Captain America Film Set in WW2 & Thor Film Set Mostly in Asgard
Thumbs up, Soldier!
CHUD.com did an interview with Kevin Fiege, head of Marvel Studios. They talked about various things, but the most interesting had to be the confirmation that Captain America will be a period piece in World War 2. Thor has also been confirmed to take place “mostly” in Asgard.
Recently I saw an article somewhere, I can’t remember where, that compared Marvel’s movies to DC’s movies. While it had merit, I still felt it was the typical Marvel vs DC fanboy comparisons. One point brought up was that back in the 60s, Marvel hit it big because all of the superheroes lived in a shared universe, thus heroes appearing in other hero’s books. Of course, this is starting to be realized in the new batch of Marvel produced movies. (That article tried to make it seem like this is what Marvel had been doing all along, which of course is wrong. Marvel wasn’t in charge of producing its own movies, so of course, Spiderman couldn’t appear in X-men, etc.)
Anyway, this is something that Marvel is doing right. There is big internet buzz over cameos. Assuming Hulk doesn’t suck donkey dick and kill the Iron Man and upcoming Marvel movie buzz, I have to believe that they are just going to destroy box offices with each movie.
The Dark Knight looks amazing, but DC (WB more specifically) can’t get their shit together on these other movie productions. Hell, half the time DC can’t get their shit together with their own flagship books. Is it any wonder, no pun intended, that Wonder Woman’s title was a clusterfuck for over a year because of the lateness and constant changing of creative teams?
Seems like that translated right over to movie production because they can’t find anyone to do that movie. JLA has been on again and off again. Seriously, you’ve managed to revive your biggest franchise in Batman. Superman turned out to be a turd, but why not pull a Hulk and pull a redo? Start putting these guys in each others movies and ramp it up for a superstar JLA movie. Nobody wants to see someone else in the batsuit in JLA, they want to see Christian Bale. Hell, it could be a Superfriends movie for all I care, but take a page from Marvel and get on the ball DC!
One final Marvel movie note, Runaways confirmed by the Hollywood Reporter for the big screen with Brian K. Vaughan writing. BKV is one of the creators of the Runaways and a fantastic comic writer who managed to make the jump to tv with Lost. Runaways were created in 2002 by BKV and Adrian Alphona.
